Time Flies

Reconciled Termite

This is the last blog post before we head into the month of May. Time is flying by and we are already a third of the way through the year. The end of spring is nearing and our California temperatures will begin to rise as the summer months approach. While warm months can be full of spring flowers and summer fun, they are also full of pesky flies. Buzzing flies enjoy warm climates and are out in full force during the last months of spring to the beginning of fall. At Reconciled Termite & Pest Control, we’re giving you tips on repelling the buzzing black pests before things heat up for summer.

#1 Keep Doors and Windows Shut. Think of your home as a fortress. Now would be a great time to utilize screen coverings for your windows and doors.

#2 Clear Garbage and Clean Surfaces. If you can’t keep the flies out with doors and windows, don’t attract them with garbage and unclean counters. Keep things clean!

#3 Consult Reconciled Termite & Pest Control for professional help!

Time may be flying, but allow us to make your time more enjoyable with a pest free environment!

Eggs Galore!

Reconciled Termite

We hope that everyone had an excellent Easter Sunday. With refrigerators full of brightly colored eggs, we thought we’d dedicate this week’s “Termite Tuesday” to what the word “egg” brings to mind over here at Reconciled.

The first stage of a termite’s life cycle is the termite egg. Termite eggs are visible to the naked eye. They resemble caviar, although much smaller. Unfortunately, termite eggs are often laid in sheltered places and often go unnoticed by most people. They typically reside inside walls and under floorboards. It is not until the adult, winged termites show up, that homeowners know that they have a problem. Termite queens can lay eggs throughout their entire lifespan (which is rather long we might add). Their first batch of eggs is typically around two-dozen, probably the same amount of hardboiled ones you have in your refrigerator.

Don’t wait until you have a full-blown infestation on your hands. Let us stop termites before major damage is done! Leave it to Reconciled Termite & Pest Control to make “Your Bugs, Our Problem!”

DIY vs. Professional Pest Control

Reconciled Termite

DIY is great when it comes to home décor and holiday crafts, but when it comes to termite and pest control, you might want to leave it to the professionals! Here are some things to consider before you venture onto Pinterest for some pest control home remedies.

Expenses: Money seems to be the driving force when it comes to a DIY choice for pest control. Most agree that a trip to the local store for a bottle of chemicals is less expensive than hiring a pest control company. However, it is important to consider the long-term costs. If your DIY attempts fail, you could be looking at some serious expenses for your home and family. While the initial costs for professional pest control might be more expensive, it might become the cheaper alternative when considering the damage that pests can cause to your home if not effectively treated.

Knowledge & Risk: Professional Pest Control companies have training and experience on their side. Not only will they be able to identify your problem quickly, they will also be able to find an appropriate and effective solution. They will have answers to your questions and give tips for prevention. Gaining knowledge through the DIY process requires hours on the Internet, reading of labels and trial and error methods that may cost you more time and money than you anticipated. Another factor to consider is risk. All chemicals can be risky if not used and applied correctly. If you have not done your research thoroughly, you may put your family, pets and plants in danger.

Effectiveness: When dealing with termites and other pests, most people are looking for results- they just want them GONE! Unfortunately, bugs adapt easily and can often become immune to store-bought chemicals. A reliable pest control company will have updated information on products and chemicals for all of your unwanted pests.

When considering these things, we hope that you will give Reconciled Termite & Pest control a call! We make “Your Bugs, Our Problem!”

How to Keep Bugs Out of the Tub!

Reconciled Termite

Rain can bring bugs through your drains which means gross bugs, like cockroaches, can make an appearance in places like your sink, toilet and even your bath tub! If you see a roach or other insects such as “drain flies”, immerging from the various drains in your home, there are several things you can do:

Give your drain a good cleaning! If you are sure that the insect is indeed coming from your drain then give your drain a good cleansing with a store-bought, gel cleaning product.

Purchase new drain-covers! Make sure that the cover for your drain contains openings large enough for water to go through but small enough to keep bugs out! Also make sure the covers fit snug and secure over the drain.

Call Reconciled Termite & Pest Control! Unfortunately, killing the bugs that you see in your tub usually doesn’t rid yourself of the problem. Bugs that are visible to homeowners usually indicate a bigger issue. Let Reconciled Termite & Pest Control get rid of the source of the problem with our highly trained technicians!

At Reconciled Termite & Pest Control, we want you to take refuge from the rain in a pest free environment. Please give us a call at the first sign of bugs and we will take care of you! Let us make “Your Bugs, Our Problem!”
